|Glasgow Airport has welcomed the launch two new routes as Jet2 commence direct flights between Scotland’s largest city to Geneva and Grenoble.|
The inaugural flights departed from Glasgow Airport on 22 December 2016 with flights to Geneva now operating every Thursday and Sunday while flights to Grenoble are available every Friday. The new route between Glasgow and Geneva is already popular with leisure travellers looking to enjoy a cultural Swiss city break and some of the best ski resorts in Europe including Morzine – Avoriaz, Chamonix, Courmayeur and Verbier, while the new service to the French Alpine gateway of Grenoble is proving popular with winter sport enthusiasts travelling Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d’Huez, La Grave and Val Thorens.
With an old town ripe for exploring, full of winding cobblestone streets, gothic cathedrals and ancient city walls, Geneva has the historic charm that you would expect from any Swiss city. And being at the foot of the Alps, it also has a natural beauty that is hard to beat. Think lakeside promenades, parks and cafes complete with snow-capped mountains and you get the picture. But don’t go thinking this city is all history and no buzz. You’ll be hard pushed to find a more cosmopolitan place in Europe. Geneva is a modern city full of upmarket restaurants and hotels, with a nightlife that is more pumping than you’d expect. Rooftop cocktail bars, lakeside terraces, live music haunts and techno blaring dance clubs are all here catering to Geneva’s diverse population.
Just one hour from Geneva Airport lies the resort of Chamonix. This resort will really test your skills and is ideal for the perfect weekend break. Made up of a number of villages linked by ski bus, the Chamonix ski area offers some great off piste and something for the extreme skiers out there.
At the base of the breathtaking Mont Blanc, the Italian resort of Courmayeur has a charming centre with narrow cobbled streets and a traditional feel. With really good snow (on and off piste) Courmayeur is the ideal destination for intermediate skiers.
The new routes from Glasgow and Geneva and Grenoble further cements Glasgow Airport’s position as Scotland's gateway to slopes with direct flights to 10 popular ski destinations including Geneva, Grenoble, Milan and Sofia. Glasgow Airports multi-award winning customer service, no drop-off charge, unrivalled choice of worldwide destinations and its central location with direct motorway access ensures the airport is the preferred choice for travellers from across Scotland including those in Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and beyond.
