As Scotland's gateway to the world and the nation's fastest growing airport, Air Glasgow is calling on Scotland's coach operators to provide a direct service between Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh.

Located just 50 miles from Glasgow Airport, Edinburgh is Scotland's second largest city and is a popular destination for tourists from around the world.

Glasgow Airport serves over 130 destinations worldwide including many which are not available from any other Scottish airport such as Bucharest, Dubai, Halifax, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Seoul and Vancouver. Similarly, many of the world's leading airlines including Air Transat, Blue Air, Emirates, Icelandair, Korean Air and Virgin Atlantic operate exclusively from Glasgow Airport.

As such, Air Glasgow believes there is significant demand for a direct public transport connection between Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh.

A direct coach service would prove hugely popular not only with Edinburgh-based business and leisure travellers, but also with tourists from around the world looking to visit Scotland.

Public transport connects people to Glasgow Airport, supporting its role as Scotland's gateway to the world and improved airport access generates economic growth by helping businesses connect with existing and emerging markets while enhancing and promoting greater surface access brings benefits for passengers, the airport and society.

Surface access is an integral part of a passenger’s end-to-end journey and is also a main influence on a passengers choice of airport. Since passengers value reliable, convenient, direct and frequent services, Glasgow Airport needs to make sure that its surface access meets the needs and expectations of its users.

Improved surface access between Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh offers travellers more opportunities to access Glasgow Airport, which is good for both Glasgow and Edinburgh economies and the national economy a whole. Improved public transport between Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh will encourage more sustainable travel choices, lower emissions and less airport-related traffic.

Air Glasgow is calling on Scotland's coach operators to provide a direct service between Glasgow Airport and Edinburgh to plug this gap in Scotland's public transport network.
