Eastern Airways to open Glasgow Airport base

Eastern Airways has announced plans to establish a new base at Glasgow Airport.

From 01 September 2017 Eastern Airways will base two aircraft at Glasgow Airport with daily flights to Manchester, Sumburgh and Stornoway.

The new base will operate as a franchise for Europe's largest regional airline Flybe, which already has four aircraft based at Glasgow Airport.

Eastern Airways will operate upto eight daily return flights from Scotland's largest city with four to Manchester, three to Stornoway and a single daily service to Sumburgh.

Alongside providing eight daily flights on three new routes, the airlines new Glasgow Airport base will create a significant number of new jobs including Pilots, Cabin Crew and Ground Staff.

Flybe's Glasgow Airport hub connects Scotland Highlands and Islands with UK cities and worldwide destinations including Bergen, Dubai, New York and Orlando. Passengers checking-in at UK Airports can enjoy a seamless and hassle-free connection in Glasgow before flying onward with Delta Air Lines, Eastern Airways, Emirates, Virgin Atlantic or other Flybe flights with luggage going straight through to their final destination and when checking in at their local airport, passengers will receive boarding passes for their flight to Glasgow and those for the onward connecting flight.

The increase in flights to Manchester, Sumburgh and Stornoway further cements Glasgow Airport’s position as Britain's best connected domestic airport with direct flights to 27 destinations throughout the United Kingdom. Flybe and Eastern Airways will compete head-to-head with Glasgow based Scotland's national airline Loganair, on all three routes.
