Lufthansa to increase flights between Glasgow and Munich

Lufthansa has announced plans to increase the number of flights it operates between Glasgow and Munich.

From 30 October 2017 Lufthansa will offer four weekly flights between Scotland's largest city and Munich with flights operating every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The new and enhanced flight schedule will provide more choice and greater flexibility for both business and leisure travellers while increasing capacity, enabling more passengers to travel between Glasgow and Munich. The increase in capacity is in response to strong and growing customer demand for the route with 4,395 passengers travelling between Glasgow and Munich in 2016.

Flights between Glasgow and Munich and hugely popular with thousands of German tourists using the service to visit Glasgow and discover Scotland's cultural capital boasting incredible architecture steeped in history, world-renowned shopping, crowded pubs and clubs and terrific restaurants, and other major tourist draws throughout Western Scotland including Argyll & Bute, Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park and many of the country’s top whisky distilleries and golf courses.

Flights between Glasgow and Munich are equally popular with Scottish travellers.

Munich is arguably the jewel in Germany’s crown and is one of its most popular tourist destinations as well as being one of its most sophisticated cultural centres. On the one side, it’s a city full of lofty works of art, stunning architecture and historical buildings, opera, theatre and more. While, on the other, it’s a city full of warmth and openness, with just a touch of that German fairytale village feeling.

The city’s motto is ‘München mag Dich’, or ‘Munich Likes You’, and it certainly does. You’ll stroll from museum to cathedral down adorable lanes and pass gingerbread-like half-timbered houses on the way. It’s the perfect mix. Add to that a strong contingent of trendy art-cafes full of life and conversation and, of course, plenty of beer gardens with perfect pilsners and a lively German gusto that has remained unchanged for years.

The increase in flights to Munich further cements Glasgow Airport’s position as Scotland's gateway to Germany with daily flights to Berlin, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt. Lufthansa flights to Munich are not available from any other Scottish airport.
