Thomas Cook announce new direct flights from Glasgow to Kos
10 July 2017

Glasgow Airport has secures its 39th new route for 2017 with the announcement that Thomas Cook is to launch direct flights between Glasgow and Kos.

From 07 May 2018 Thomas Cook will offer weekly flights direct from Glasgow to Kos with flights operating every Monday.

The new route between Scotland's largest city and Kos is expected to prove popular with Scottish travellers.

With a rich history and an even richer coastline, action-packed resorts, and mountain scenery, Kos has been pulling in the tourists for decades. Long before it was its beaches attracting the crowds, Kos was pulling in a very different type of tourist. Travellers came to the island looking to be cured at the healing sanctuary known as the Asclepion, the remains of which can still be seen today, almost two and a half thousand years later. And did you know that Hippocrates, the father of medicine, also came from Kos? Well you do now. Don’t miss the ruins of the world’s first medical school, which he built here.

Check out the island’s main town too, called, yes you guessed it, Kos Town. If you like your ports picturesque then you’ll love this one, sitting impressively under the watchful eye of a medieval castle, complete with narrow, cobbled streets and pretty little squares. The town also doubles up as a lively resort with everything a tourist could wish for, from bustling nightclubs to typical Greek tavernas and beaches with every type of amenity imaginable.

The new route between Glasgow and Kos further cements Glasgow Airport’s position as Scotland's gateway to Greece with direct flights to Chania, Corfu, Heraklion, Kefalonia, Kos, Rhodes, Thessaloniki and Zante. Glasgow Airports multi-award winning customer service, unrivalled choice of worldwide destinations and its central location with direct motorway access ensures the airport is the preferred choice for travellers from across Scotland including those in Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and beyond.

Thomas Cook will compete head-to-head with easyJet on the popular Glasgow to Kos route with direct flights to the Greek island not available from any other Scottish airport.

Already Scotland's gateway to the world and the nation's fastest growing airport, Glasgow Airport has enjoyed huge success in recent times establishing itself as one of Europe's fastest growing airports with new flights taking-off to over 30 exciting destinations including Brussels, Cape Verde, Dubrovnik, Jamaica, Krakow, Lisbon, Madrid, New York JFK and Valencia - offering passengers over 1 million additional seats.
